How Adam is building AI agents

Last month, Jesse said Gateway X’s 2025 focus is to get a deep understanding of AI to help it transform every company in its portfolio.

So I asked Adam, GX’s CTO, to record a podcast with me about his progress.

I expected him to tell me all the ways "it could" change things for us "someday."

But it turns out it's already part of the work GX does for Bootstrapped Giants and its other companies.

AI in Action: The Mutual Intro Process

One of the best examples is the “Mutual Intro Playbook,” a process for landing clients that GX uses in its companies and we teach in the Sales Accelerator.

The idea is simple:

Step 1: Identify who you want to sell to

Step 2: Find mutual connections who can introduce you

Step 3: Ask for introductions

That second step is needlessly tedious. It means manually scanning LinkedIn for hours, trying to find the best connections to ask for introductions.

Adam built an AI agent that does that automatically—and better than a human.

There’s a screenshare of it in the interview we did.

Other Surprising Realizations

  1. No code. Adam didn't write any code to create his agents.

  2. Off-the-Shelf Tools. Many of the tools he's using are super-common to anyone who uses basic software automation, like Zapier and Make. Some were new to me, like n8n. But all are pretty accessible to anyone who wanted to learn how to use them.
